The Certified Financial Divorce Practitioner (CFDP) designation is the undisputed professional credential for persons who typically assist either spouse of a divorcing couple to understand their options better and the decisions surrounding their financial scenarios.

The CFDP designation signifies that a certificant has attained comprehensive knowledge of the following subject matter:

Curriculum

The CFDP designation is a self-study program that includes:
  • One 500+ page binder covering the subject matter above
  • “Family Law Software” program (five months free usage) - this software will assist you in determining financial results when calculating "what if" scenarios such as: who keeps the house, who receives the 401(k), who assumes the visa card balance, etc.

Examination Requirements

To earn the designation, candidates must successfully complete one case study (submitted via email for grading) plus one test (taken online in the comfort of your home or office) within a one-year period of time. Most designees successfully complete the course in approximately three months!


Additional Information

Candidates who complete the program receive a one-year membership in the Academy of Certified Financial Divorce Practitioners. Membership includes ongoing support, affinity program discounts from major corporations, up to fifteen hours of continuing education, networking opportunities, and listing on the website practitioner search files.


Additional Requirements

Candidates are not required to meet experience or education prerequisites to attain this designation.


Continuing Education Requirements

CFDP designees are required to complete 15 hours of continuing education annually through the Academy (numerous 15-hour CE courses to choose from for $35 each, delivered via email), in addition to a $195 annual renewal fee.
